ECE Curriculum Committee Meeting Minutes for December 8, 2008

1. The Minutes of the December 1, 2008 meeting were approved with minor corrections.
2. Kent Choquette proposed that all other departmental required courses (including ECE 329, ECE 385, ECE 440, and ECE 313) be made prerequisites for the senior design course ECE 445. The Committee approved the motion.
3. After further discussion of the advantages and impact of the idea by Scott Carney and Gary Swenson for revising ECE 445 to be a four-credit-hour course that also satisfies the campus advanced composition requirement, the Committee expressed strong support in principle for such a change. The Committee encourages Scott and Gary to develop and submit a formal proposal to the Committee for review. The Committee agreed that, if the change is formally approved, the extra two hours would be subtracted from the technical elective requirement in the Electrical Engineering Curriculum.
