Members present: Jont Allen, Stephen Bishop, Donna Brown, Kent Choquette, Matthew Frank, Yih-Chun Hu, Douglas Jones, Erhan Kudeki, Stephen Levinson, Jonathan Makela, Michael Oelze
  1. The Minutes of the February 20, 2009 meeting were approved.
  2. ECE 498 LEE: Lectures in Engineering Entrepreneurship proposed by Andy Singer was approved for Summer 2009.
  3. Mechanisms for working with Computer Science to improve and maintain coordination between the CS and Computer Engineering curricula were discussed. The curricula may already be reasonably well coordinated, but communication between the departments on curricular matters is sporadic, so it was felt that a permanent mechanism for communication and coordination on curricular matters should be established. Three approaches were suggested:
    1. Have a joint meeting of the CS and ECE Curriculum Committees to get acquainted and formulate a plan.
    2. Designate a joint standing CS/ECE Curriculum Subcommittee, composed of, say, four members of each curriculum committee, that would meet several times a year to keep abreast of developments in the various curricula and to make sure they are coordinated.
    3. Appoint an observer(s) from each curriculum committee to the other to provide input, perspective, and to monitor issues that might affect curricular coordination.
It was decided that the Chair would contact his counterpart in CS with these suggestions.
  4. The Committee adjourned at 3:49 PM.
